The Danbury Colonials are excited to announce goaltender Alex Fernandes has re-signed for the 2020-21 season. Fernandes, 19, is a Bethel native who was a key contributor for the Colonials last season.
As the Colonials heated up down the stretch last season pushing for second place in the Northeast Division, Fernandes won key games in net. He finished 4-0 in his final four starts, posting a 1.71 goals-against average and .943 save percentage in the process.
“I’m super excited to be back with the Colonials next season,” Fernandes beamed. “It’s a pleasure to work with Coach Cunningham and Coach Allen. They work endlessly to help their players get to the next level. Danbury is a great place to play hockey and I’m proud to be able to represent my hometown.”
“I’m thrilled to have Alex return for the coming season,” commented head coach Kevin Cunningham. “He’s an outstanding teammate in every respect, had some fantastic outings for us last year and grew tremendously over the course of the season.”
Fernandes also made history last October by recording the first shutout of the Colonials franchise in a 6-0 win over the Maine Wild.
