Colonials turn attention to key divisional matchup with Kings

DANBURY, CT– The Danbury Colonials are looking to snap a nine-game skid with a key divisional matchup with the Skylands Kings this weekend in New Jersey.

The Colonials are 5-1 against the Kings this season, including three wins in New Jersey. Their most recent matchup, however, was a 5-3 Kings victory on Danbury ice. With the Colonials now sitting six points behind the Kings in the standings and 14 games remaining in the regular season, the black-and-orange brigade will need to start making a push.

The defense will be tested against Skylands’ top unit. James Clarke enters the game as the Kings’ leading scorer, having registered 28 goals and 57 points in 31 games. Linemate Khole Hibbert has lodged 36 assists and 47 points on the season.

Danbury’s offense, meanwhile, will be anchored by Brandon Cope. Cope, after returning from a two-game loan to the NAHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, notched back-to-back multi-point performances on the 10th and 11th. His return bolsters the powerplay, as he is tied for the team lead in goals on the man advantage with seven.

Live game coverage will be hosted on HockeyTV this Friday at 8:30pm EST.
