Danbury Colonials forward Brandon Cope received a call-up to the NAHL this weekend. The 19-year-old will join the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights as they take on the Jamestown Rebels for a weekend set.
Cope leads the Colonials in scoring with 37 points in 29 games. He has notched a team-best 17 goals, seven of them on the powerplay, along with 20 assists.
“Brandon has been a key player in every situation all season,” said Colonials head coach Kevin Cunningham. “He has elite speed, high-level skill and the smarts to use them together to be a very effective player. He’s earned this opportunity, and we wish him the best of luck!”
Cope is the first Danbury Colonials player to earn a promotion to the NAHL in team history.
Cope’s teammates in Danbury, meanwhile, are prepping for a pair of games against the Maine Wild. Saturday’s game will be played on Wesleyan University’s campus, while Sunday’s will be held at Danbury Arena at 1 p.m.
