A statement from the Danbury Colonials

The Danbury Colonials are extraordinarily proud. We are so incredibly grateful to play in such a supportive environment, and we are so pleased with the progress made both on and off the ice. The NA3HL is, by design, a developmental league, and as such, the protection of our players is most important.

It is with that in mind that the Danbury Colonials, in cooperation with the NA3HL, are cancelling the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

This is obviously not how we wanted our season to end. We were looking forward to our playoff matchup with the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles, and wanted so badly to compete for the Fraser Cup- a yearlong goal of ours.

However, we are completely aware of the ongoing situation and are doing everything in our power to protect our players and staff. We are taking extra cautionary measures around Danbury Arena to ensure the safety of everyone who steps foot in our building.

To our fans, we are so thankful. To our billet families and everyone who provided assistance throughout the season, your support is so meaningful to us. To our coaching staff, we are appreciative for your tutelage and your dedication to our program.

To our players…you left everything on the ice. At the end of the day, junior hockey is about growth, and the Danbury Colonials exemplified that principle day in and day out. You persisted through the lows and achieved tremendous highs, and we are inordinately proud of your 2019-20 campaign.

The team will be holding optional practices, which will be open to any high school player interested in participating. Dates and times will be announced shortly via the Colonials’ social media pages.

From all of us at the Danbury Colonials and Danbury Arena, thank you.

Choo choo.
